 Web Server Setup & Administration

For Assignment 6, you'll use the Apachefriends.org XAMPP server package to set up a Windows Apache MySQL PHP server, administer the MySQL database, and set up active PHP/MySQL Web pages.

Quite frequently in Web site administration, data must be migrated from one server to another. In this assignment, you will move your HR database application (including authentication) from Assignment 5 from the ISCM server to a new Web server - your local machine.

• Download and install the XAMPP server (see the Resources page).
• Address security issues recommended in the XAMPP server main page.
• Set up a MySQL database and user account for the Web project.
• Copy the MySQL tables (using phpMyAdmin - export from ISCM and import to localhost)
• Copy over the required files from Assignment 5 to the Web folder on your local machine.
• Create an index page that welcomes the user and links to the HR database application as well as to the XAMPP administration page.

This assignment must be completed on the hard drives in the computer lab and will be graded in the lab. Some class time will be given for this assignment, but extra lab time may be required before or after class.
